From 1955 to 1965, Ramón Masats traveled across Spain, capturing patriotic themes for Gaceta Ilustrada. This work, coinciding with Franco’s shift toward international engagement, allowed Masats to pioneer a precise and visually striking photographic style. This collection showcases Spain during that era through the lens of one of its most influential photographers.

Born in Caldes de Montbui, Barcelona, in 1931, Masats revolutionized documentary photography in the 1960s. His iconic Los Sanfermines and Viejas historias de Castilla la Vieja, with text by Miguel Delibes, remain highlights of his career. After exploring film and television, Masats returned to photography in 1981, focusing on color. His achievements include the National Photography Prize.
