INSIDE HEREU

HEREU takes its name from the Catalan word for “heir”. True to this definition, the brand has worked since 2014 to produce contemporary accessories that redefine a distinctive heritage. HEREU’s shoes, bags and small leather goods are crafted in Spain by a network of family-run manufacturers. Looking to these artisans for guidance, HEREU’s designteam are able to draw from a vast collective knowledge of traditional craft, applying it tothe creation of effortlessly modern pieces. HEREU is proud of this duality and the newdesign possibilities it creates

A rich palette of references - including inherited folk techniques, modernist artworks and organic forms found in nature – ensures that aesthetic innovation is always central to the HEREU design process. Also underpinning the brand’s ethos is a distinctly Mediterranean sensibility, characterised by a laid back attitude and an understated approach to dressing.

Both founders Jose Luis and Albert constructed this project as a tribute to their roots, “We reinterpret traditional craftsmanship through out a personal language”. Coming from Valencia and Mallorca, Albert and Jose Luis manage to evoke this type of nostalgia for the sea, diving deep into their mediterranean core.

It is HEREU’s belief that items of clothing and accessories can hold powerful memories. In many ways, the core styles making up HEREU’s collections represent specific, fond recollections of the design team, harkering back to significant items worn in the past. Through being enjoyed and eventually passed on, HEREU’s goal is to provide each piece their own individual legacy that will transcend over time.
