"El Amor Nuevo" or "The New Love" contains text by Ignacio Martínez de Pisón and Jorge Gay. Showcasing Jorge Gay's creative process and artworks, relating to his 2005 mural with the same title "El Amor Nuevo" commissioned specifically by the Fundación Los Amantes de Teruel.
Located in the Mausoleum of the Lovers of Teruel, the cubist influenced mural speaks to the tragic outcome of the 13th century legendary literature "Los amantes de Teruel" or "The lovers of Teruel" , an impossible love story between two star-crossed lovers. Carved marble tombs of the young lovers created in the Church of San Pedro of Teruel in 1955 after allegedly discovering two mummified corpses said to be "Los amantes de Teruel".
This publication, "El Amor Nuevo" is influenced by this tragic love story and delves into writings on the theme of love from a wider perspective. Additionally, it presents abundant sketches and imagery relating to the process of creating Gay's 2005 mural and a large poster of the mural itself "El Amor Nuevo".
