Picasso and Miró transformed modern art in the early 20th century. Though they trained in Barcelona, their artistic breakthroughs happened in Paris. Yet, the roots of their creativity lie in two distinct locations in southern Catalonia: Horta de Sant Joan and Mont-Roig del Camp.

French photographer Jean Marie Del Moral, whose parents were Spanish exiles from the Civil War, has long been captivated by the art of Picasso and Miró. Having explored the landscapes that inspired them, Del Moral believes these places reveal shared ideas about nature, life, and creation, despite the artists' differing styles. He sees striking parallels in the landscapes of Horta and Mont-Roig that shaped both artists' work.

Through his sensitive, poetic photography, Del Moral captures the connection between these landscapes and the masters' art. His approach, influenced by great Catalan photographers like Joaquim Gomis and Francesc Català Roca, as well as legends like Paul Strand and Edward Weston, offers a fresh perspective on Picasso and Miró, revealing their common essence while preserving their individuality.
